About the Award

The GUMC Staff Community Award honors colleagues who show positivity, perseverance and resilience in their work and go above and beyond on behalf of our community.

Awardees will be nominated by their peers and chosen by the GUMC Staff/AAP Caucus committee and select others. Any student, staff, administrator, or faculty member may make a nomination.

Up to two awardees will be selected each quarter to receive a $1,250 cash award and recognition celebration with GUMC leadership.

Award Criteria

This award is open to full-time staff or AAP members of Georgetown University Medical Center.

To be considered for the award, a nominee must:

  • Have completed at least one year of full-time employment as a staff or AAP member at GUMC.
  • Be a non-exempt or exempt employee in good standing with a full-time equivalent (FTE) of 75% or greater.
  • Be employed at GUMC at the time of the final selection.
  • Within the GUMC staff or AAP organizational structure, be below the level of Associate Vice President or Associate Dean.
  • Have not received this award in the previous 36 months.

This community award is a one-time payment, subject to applicable taxes and withholding.  

Nominees should demonstrate distinction in going above and beyond for another member of the community or the community at large. Areas of distinction could include, but are not limited to:

  • Building community engagement
  • Effectively supporting staff or AAP success
  • Bringing recognition to the medical center
  • Demonstrating exemplary service to the medical center
  • Promoting cura personalis
  • Promoting diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Identifying sustainability initiatives

Nomination Deadlines

All nominations to be considered for the upcoming quarter must be submitted by 5:00 p.m. on the third Friday of November, February, May and August. Nominations made after the deadline will be reviewed in the next cycle. The committee may reach out to nominators for further information or clarification, if needed.
