Our Pillars of Excellence

Guiding Pillar of Excellence: Health for All

As part of a Catholic, Jesuit institution, the guiding Pillar of Excellence at Georgetown University Medical Center is Health for All, a commitment to the community and to cura personalis, or “care of the whole person.”

Our commitment to our community guides all that we do. For over 50 years, this has fueled the success of Georgetown University’s Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center in Washington, D.C.

The Foundations of this Work

The Pillars of Excellence align GUMC’s institutional strengths with areas of greatest need and opportunity, building on the foundational work of education, research and care for the community. All of these activities are grounded in a dedication to the Catholic, Jesuit principles of public service (“people in service to others”) and cura personalis, or “care of the whole person.”
