Appointment of Doreen Robinson, PhD

(November 26,2013) — Doreen Robinson, PhD, has been appointed as the senior associate vice president for sponsored research at Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC).

In her new position, Doreen is responsible for the leadership and management of sponsored research administration and services, as well as the development of all proposal and award budgets throughout the Medical Center. She will act as a resource and catalyst for all facets of research administration, and play a role identifying and aiding in negotiations with extramural Federal and non-Federal funding sources for biomedical sponsored programs.

Doreen holds a doctoral degree in biomedical pharmacology from the University of Buffalo and has twenty years of experience in biomedical research and development. Her distinguished professional career spans various aspects of biomedical science including strategic planning, research & development, program, operations and personnel management, technical analysis and business development. Her previous roles include project manager and technical expert for more than a dozen government agencies; research scientist at the National Institutes of Health; patent awardee; business owner; and recognized subject matter expert in biotechnology, biomedical sciences, and biological defense as evidenced by $10 million in competitive awards. Additionally, she has experience administering peer review of a broad range of biomedical R&D applications and activities.

Doreen will be an invaluable addition to the GUMC community as we continue to strengthen and expand our research enterprise.
