JULY 12, 2015 — Leonard Wartofsky (new window), professor at Georgetown University School of Medicine as well as the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, recently started serving as editor in chief of Endocrine Reviews, published by the Endocrine Society. The preeminent journal in the field of endocrinology, Endocrine Reviews publishes bimonthly articles covering both experimental and clinical endocrinology, and has repeatedly received the highest impact factor among more than 125 endocrinology and metabolism journals.

An internationally renowned expert in clinical thyroid disease with an emphasis on patients with thyroid cancer, Wartofsky previously served as editor in chief of The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism (new window), another publication by the Endocrine Society. Wartofsky is also chairman emeritus of the department of medicine at Washington Hospital Center and past president of both the Endocrine Society and the American Thyroid Association. He has been honored by the Endocrine Society with the Robert H. Williams Distinguished Leadership Award and Distinguished Educator Award.

“It is truly an honor to take the helm of such a prestigious scholarly journal,” Wartofsky said. “As editor in chief, I will strive to maintain and build on the journal’s reputation for excellence.”
