(March 14, 2018) — As associate director of clinical research at Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center and professor of medical oncology and pharmacology at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Giuseppe Giaccone, MD, PhD, leads a team of researchers in studying thymic carcinoma, also known as cancer of the thymus. Some types of thymic tumors remain relatively indolent but thymic epithelial tumors are more aggressive and rare, Giaccone explains in this video. He also discusses why immunotherapies are more effective today than they have been in the past, and how that motivates him to continue studying the biology of cancer as it relates to clinical treatment.
