On Tuesday, Nov. 3, the Eighth Annual GUMC Convocation will bring together Georgetown University Medical Center faculty, students and staff for a unified celebration of academic prowess, recognizing unique and outstanding achievements in research, education and service.
Honoring an Expert on the Human Microbiome
The keynote lecturer, and the recipient of the Cura Personalis Award, is Martin J. Blaser, MD, a world-renowned researcher and clinician who has studied how bacteria can prevent or promote the development of disease for over 30 years. Blaser is the Muriel and George Singer Professor of Medicine and Professor of Microbiology at New York University Langone Medical Center, where he also serves as the director of the Human Microbiome Program.
