On Thursday, November 17, the Ninth Annual GUMC Convocation will bring together Georgetown University Medical Center faculty, students and staff for a unified celebration of academic prowess, recognizing unique and outstanding achievements in research, education and service.

Honoring an expert in global health

The keynote lecturer, and the recipient of the 2016 Cura Personalis Award, is Roger I. Glass, MD, PhD, director of the NIH’s Fogarty International Center.  A member of the National Academy of Medicine, Glass is an award-winning researcher dedicated to the prevention of gastroenteritis who has co-authored more than 600 research papers and chapters.  He has maintained field studies in India, Bangladesh, Brazil, Mexico, Israel, Russia, Vietnam, China and elsewhere, and he is fluent and often lectures in five languages.
