The Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) is the Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) office for:

  • Review and submission of applications to research sponsors 
  • Receipt of sponsored research awards
  • Negotiation and execution of sponsored research agreements
  • Sponsored research account setup, maintenance and closeout

Doreen Robinson, Ph.D., CRA, is the Director of Research Development Services (RDS) and the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) and has overall responsibility for sponsored research activities, outreach and coordination at the Georgetown University Medical Center.

Trudy Bright plays an integral role in operations management and coordination of proposal review, approval and submission; establishment of sponsored research spending accounts; and negotiation of sponsored research agreements and coordination with GUMC administrative offices, departments and outside institutions.

Manuel Corday is a primary contact in OSR for GMS training and queries related to sponsored research award initiation and management in GMS. He also serves as the Senior Grants & Contracts Specialist for the School of Nursing & Health Sciences (SNHS),  Center for Global Health & Quality (GHQ), Center for Global Health Science & Security (GHSS), Lung Biology Laboratory (LBL), Protein Information Resource (PIR) and the Georgetown Center for Innovation (CENTILE) as well as the departments of Microbiology, Neurosciences, Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Physiology, Psychiatry, Radiology, Radiation and Pharmacology.

John Bustillos, CRA, CPRA, CFRA, works closely with RDS and has primary responsibility for institutional review and approval of GUMC proposals submitted by RDS through GU PASS (10 days prior to submission deadline) and sponsor application packages, as well as electronic submission of finalized applications to federal sponsors (5 days prior to submission deadline).

Serena Ody is responsible for entering proposals into Georgetown's financial system (GMS) and provides administrative support for the OSR Pre-award Office.

Clairice Lloyd, CRA, is responsible for Medical Center program project proposals and awards, including the Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), Georgetown-Howard Universities Center for Clinical and Translational Science (GHUCCTS), Prostate, Lung, Colorectal, and Ovarian (PLCO) Cancer Screening, and the Women's Interagency HIV Study (WIHS), as well as sponsored research for the Neurology Department other than industry-sponsored clinical trials, which are handled by CROO.

Helen Mourat is responsible for sponsored research agreements for the departments of Anesthesia, Cell Biology, Clinical Bioethics, Medical Microbiology, Pathology, Family Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Med. Ctr. Admin, Ob-Gyn (includes IRH), Orthopedics, Surgery (Cardio, General, Plastic & Reconstructive, Transplant), Dean for Research, Comparative Medicine, Office of Regulatory Affairs and Financial Aid (Medical School). Ms. Mourat is currently overseeing sponsored research agreements for Child Health and Human Development (CHHD), the Department of Medicine (including Cardiology, Dermatology, Emergency, Endo, Gastro, Laboratory, Internal, Pulmonary, Renal, Rheumatology)

Marjan Mobini is responsible for all departments in the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) and the Department of Medicine Division of  Hematology & Oncology and Radiation Medicine

Joseph Young, JD, negotiates agreements related to research, clinical trials and sub-awards for LCCC clinical departments and collaborates with other University offices on legal and policy matters related to sponsored research.

OSR Sub-award Specialists are responsible for negotiating and managing all GUMC sub-award agreements, working closely with RDS and OSR grants & contracts officers. Outgoing sub-award requests are routed to the PI for approval and to OSR using GU PASS. An RDS staff member works with the PI and departmental staff to initiate the request in GU PASS. Contact Terry-ann Clarke-Nolan in RDS (tc236@georgetown.edu, 202-687-2262) to submit a subaward or independent contractor agreement (ICA) request. Once reviewed and approved by the PI, the submission will be passed to OSR for sub-award negotiation and setup in GMS.
