Georgetown Women in Medicine Elects 2013-2015 Officers

Georgetown Women in Medicine (GWIM), an organization founded to promote the professional advancement of women faculty, announces the election of its 2013-2015 officers and board members.
Stacey Kaltman, PhD, an associate professor in the department of psychiatry, will serve as GWIM president, taking over from last year’s co-presidents Pamela Saunders, PhD, associate professor in the department of neurology, and Karen Gale, PhD, professor in the department of pharmacology.
Other newly elected officers include:
Vice president (clinical): Maria Marquez, MD, assistant professor, department of pediatrics;
Vice president (basic science): Kristi Graves, PhD, assistant professor, department of oncology;
Vice president (clinical science): Nady Golestaneh, PhD, assistant professor, departments of ophthalmology, neurology, and biochemistry and molecular & cellular biology;
Recording secretary: Vanessa Sheppard, PhD, associate professor, department of oncology;
Corresponding secretary: Caroline Wellbery, MD, associate professor, department of family medicine;
Treasurer: Kimberly Davis, PhD, departments of oncology and psychology;
Board members-at-large: Yumi Jarris, MD, associate professor, department of family medicine; Kirsten Hawkins, MD, assistant professor, department of pediatrics; Robin Gross, MD, associate professor, department of medicine; Daisy Lazarous, MD, associate professor, department of medicine; Eileen Moore, MD, associate professor, department of medicine; Virginia Steen, MD, professor, department of medicine; Judy Wang, PhD, assistant professor, department of oncology; and Suzanne O’Neill, PhD, assistant professor, department of oncology.
GWIM sponsors events and programs designed to develop leadership skills, enhance communication networks and increase involvement in the medical center’s growth.
GWIM hosts its first meeting of the year on Wednesday, September 25 at 4 pm in the Med-Dent Building, room NE201A. GWIM welcomes women faculty from the School of Medicine and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital to attend.
