Donald Dunn Named to Joint Appointment
Posted in Announcements
Dear Colleagues of Georgetown and MedStar,
After numerous years of study, development, and discussion, in 2018 MedStar Health and Georgetown University signed an historic Collaborative Fundraising Agreement that has resulted in a formal working partnership between our medical center advancement program at Georgetown University and the hospital philanthropy program at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. As we complete the first year of our innovative philanthropy partnership, it is our pleasure to announce the joint appointment of an executive leader to manage the fundraising collaboration.
We are pleased to share that, effective November 1, 2019, Donald Dunn will serve as Vice President for the joint Medicine Campaign, leading the important collaboration of the medicine advancement and hospital philanthropy teams to support the capital campaign to fund construction of the new medical/surgical pavilion as well as our organizations’ shared mission in research, teaching, clinical care and service at GUMC and MGUH.
At the same time, Donald will assume the role of Senior Associate Vice President for GUMC. Donald will work in close collaboration with Emily Riffle, Vice President for Philanthropy at MGUH and Paula Frishman, Assistant Vice President, Education & Research, GUMC Advancement. He will retain his current lead role in major gift fundraising for the LCCC.
Donald joined the Office of Advancement in 2015 as the Senior Director of Development for the Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center where he’s led the Lombardi team to year-over-year fundraising growth. Shortly after his arrival, Donald was also asked to co-lead the GUMC Advancement team with Paula Frishman and JoAnn Grainger. In this capacity, Donald and Paula have led their teams in efforts to substantially advance the fundraising capacity and performance of the Med Center Advancement team and they will continue that work going forward.
Donald brings significant fundraising experience, a strong working knowledge of the MedStar partnership, and the ability to successfully navigate large, complex academic medical institutions. We consider ourselves fortunate to have him on our team and willing to step into this new role.
Please join us in congratulating Donald and thanking him for his commitment to lead the joint collaborative fundraising efforts for MedStar and Georgetown University Medical Center.
Thank you all,
Bart Moore
