"Braving the Shave" in Solidarity with Childhood Cancer Patients

April 9, 2017--Why would a Georgetown University medical student shave her head and give up more than a foot and a half of golden locks? Watch as Alena Hoover (M’19) “braves the shave” in solidarity with children, including her brother, who are diagnosed with cancer.

About 50 School of Medicine students, faculty and staff members joined her on April 7 to raise money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation, a charity that funds childhood cancer research at institutions around the country, including Georgetown Lombardi. The foundation awarded a grant to Georgetown Lombardi's Jeffrey A. Toretsky, MD, last week for his work on Ewing sarcoma.
