Georgetown Physician Honored With Emerging Leader Award

Ranit Mishori, MD, MHS, assistant professor in the Department of Family Medicine, has received a 2009 Emerging Leader Award from the Family Medicine Education Consortium (FEMC), and the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine (STFM), at their annual Northeast Region conference.

The award is part of the FEMC’s Emerging Leaders Initiative, a program aimed at identifying those with the potential to be future leaders in family medicine academic and community service efforts. Mishori picked up her award on October 30 at the STFM conference in Rye Brook, New York.

Mishori is director of the family medicine clerkship program, required for third year medical students at Georgetown. She received her MD from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed her master’s degree in international health at Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. Her interests include care of the underserved, patient education and health communications, preventive health and global health. In addition to her service to patients, Mishori is contributing health editor to Parade Magazine and a regular contributor to the Washington Post.
