Fugh-Berman Comments on Drug Companies and Doctor Education

Adriane Fugh-Bergman, associate professor of physiology and biophysics and director of PharmedOut, spoke with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel recently about unethical drug promotion tactics used by pharmaceutical companies. Doctor education programs have become a leading method of product promotion in recent years according to Senate hearings this past week. “Sometimes drug company-sponsored doctor education does not mention a specific drug, but rather a disease or condition that can be treated by the company's drug,” Dr. Fugh-Bergman explained.
