July 24, 2009

Image magazine highlighted the Capital Breast Care Center's (CBCC) crusade to provide breast cancer education, prevention and screening services to low-income women in Washington, D.C. According to the CBCC, Washington, D.C. has the highest mortality rate of breast cancer in the nation.

Recently, the CBCC received a $750,000 grant from the Avon Foundation. “We are the only community-based screening facility in the D.C. area,” says Beth Beck, MA, CHES, executive director of the CBCC. "The grant will allow us to purchase more advanced mammography equipment."
