Dr. Peter Shields' Anti-Smoking Efforts Featured on Today Show

Georgetown University Medical Center's Peter Shields kicked off a stop smoking effort for NBC's Chief Medical Editor, Dr. Nancy Snyderman. The segment aired on the Today Show on January 29 to a national audience, highlighting Dr. Shields’ anti-smoking efforts in his Lombardi laboratory.

The segment, called "Today Calls it Quits" is a multi-platform effort that will take the Stop Smoking message online, answering readers' questions and giving support to those who want to quit. Watch the video:

About Dr. Peter Shields
Dr. Shields has published extensively in the field of the molecular epidemiology and genetic risk markers for breast and lung cancer. His clinical area of expertise is in the treatment of nonmalignant hematology, lung and hematologic malignancies. He is an expert on use of tobacco products and their relationship to cancer, nicotine replacement therapy, effects of secondhand smoke, and genetic predisposition to tobacco addiction. Dr. Shields has served as a medical expert in high-profile litigation against tobacco companies.
