Former Medical School Dean Passes Away

Born in Elmira, NY, Henry graduated from Elmira Catholic High School. After receiving his MD from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, Henry taught pathology at Washington University in St. Louis, Columbia University, National Cancer Institute (NCI), Harvard Medical School and the University of Florida before serving as the dean of School of Medicine from 1979-1984. His research included enzymology, hematology and transplantation. He also edited the book Clinical Diagnosis and Management by Laboratory Methods.

Henry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Georgette, as well as six children and 12 grandchildren. A funeral mass was held April 13 at St. Mary’s of the Lake Church in Skaneateles, NY. A memorial fund for Dr. John Bernard Henry has been established to benefit the Junior Sailing Program at Skaneateles Country Club in Skaneateles, NY.
