NHS Honors December Grads

December 19, 2008

The School of Nursing and Health Studies (NHS) honored 95 students who completed their bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing in the fall 2008 semester at a completion ceremony on Dec. 13. The event was held in Gaston Hall.

A group of 33 students earned a bachelor’s degree through the university’s accelerated, 16-month Second Degree Program. In addition, 62 students received their master’s degrees through the Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Acute and Critical Care Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, and Nurse Midwifery programs.

“We are so very proud of you,” said Sharon Radzyminski, interim chair of the Department of Nursing. “And we are honored to be with you here today.”

At the event, several students spoke about their educational and clinical experiences.

“We’ve cared for patients and their families as lives began and when they ended and everywhere in between,” said Blair Turner (NHS’08) of the Second Degree Program.

“The patients we have taken care of in the past and will take care of in the future will receive the best possible care from my Georgetown classmates,” new nurse anesthetist Justin Howard (G’08) said.

“Our contribution to the world will not be measured by the money we make or the accolades we receive, but rather by the way in which we share our unique gifts with the world," added Maria Green (G’08) of the Family Nurse Practitioner program.
