Shawna Willey Elected President of the American Society of Breast Surgeons

Shawna Willey, a member of the Breast Cancer Program at Lombardi, has been elected president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.  She began her one-year term on May 4 at the annual meeting in New York City.

The American Society of Breast Surgeons is focused on the study of breast surgery.  The ASBS promotes the research and development of advanced surgical techniques, to improve standards of practice for breast surgery and serves as a forum for the exchange of ideas. The Society was founded in 1995 and has more than 2400 members in the and in 35 countries throughout the world.

Willey joined Lombardi in 2002 to direct the Betty Lou Ourisman Breast Health Center.  The breast center is designed to provide the most professional breast health care possible by coordinating services across specialties to maximize efficiency and produce optimal outcomes.
