MAGIS Society of Master Teachers
Magis, a Latin adverb meaning "more greatly," is a shortened form of the Jesuit motto A.M.D.G.: ad maiorem Dei gloriam or "towards the greater glory of God". It also refers to doing what is done wholeheartedly and being wholly present while doing it.
Challenged by the School of Medicine's mission to be one who "educates in an integrated way, knowledgeable, skillful, ethical, and compassionate physicians and biomedical scientists dedicated to the care of others and the health needs of our society," there are those among our faculty who have responded with extraordinary skill, enthusiasm, dedication, and caring. They are our heroes, our master teachers, our mentors, our role models. They strive for excellence in all their activities, and give selflessly to their students, their colleagues, and their patients. They exemplify magis.
