On Thursday, November 17, 2016, the Ninth Annual GUMC Convocation will bring together Georgetown University Medical Center students, faculty, and staff in a unified celebration recognizing unique and outstanding achievements in research, education and service. As part of our Convocation, GUMC faculty have nominated colleagues who are actively engaged in research pursuits for special recognition in two categories: the GUMC Leadership in Research Award and the GUMC Research Recognition Award.

​The GUMC ​Teaching Academy for the Health Sciences, a component of the Center for Innovation and Leadership in Education (CENTILE)​,​ has determined two 
members for the “Distinguished Educator” designation.

Designation is determined after both internal and external peer-review of the applicants' application portfolios including documentation of evidence of outstanding performance and achievements in three of five education domains: direct teaching, advising and mentoring; instructional design/curriculum development; educational scholarship, and educational leadership.
