Graduate credit hours earned within this new online program are fully recognized by the Georgetown University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences and are transferable into on-campus graduate programs.
Program Focus:
The new graduate program will focus on the science behind the agents and diseases in question. More specifically, the curriculum will include:
Microbiology of CDC Category A through C biothreat agents, i.e. smallpox, plague, anthrax, tularemia, and Ebola.
The history of bioterrorism and the need for biosurveillance, as well as their implications in homeland security.

Certificate Highlights:
Program is offered entirely online.
Full time (2 courses per semester) or part time (1 course per semester) study options are available.
Admitted students work towards a graduate certificate; course content is as rigorous as that of on-campus graduate classes.
Courses are taught by full-time and adjunct faculty of the Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Diseases Master of Science program at Georgetown University.
Admitted students enjoy online access to Georgetown library and other resources and regular communication with their professors and other certificate students.
Upon completion of their curriculum, students of the online certificate program will be invited to a Conference and Graduate Biomedical Employment Fair along with on-campus graduate (MS and PhD) students at the department.
Graduating students will receive an official Georgetown Certificate as well as a transcript from the Georgetown University Graduate School of Arts & Sciences. The credit hours earned are fully transferable into a graduate program and are identical to the credit hours earned by on-campus graduate students.
