A participant in the Twentieth Annual (2006) Student Research Days Competition and Exposition summed up the spirit of the event best by stating:

"The primary reason why most of us participate is to show our work, to use this as an opportunity to organize our data for future events, and to receive useful feedback..."

In its twenty-year history, Student Research Days (SRD) has grown and expanded from a modest medical center campus student research competition to a showcase for the diverse research investigations in the biomedical sciences conducted at Georgetown University.

Though many take the competitive aspect of the event quite seriously, emphasis over recent years has been placed upon SRD as an opportunity for students to show their research, to practice their presentation skills, and to interact with fellow students and faculty.

Most importantly, the nature and disposition of future SRD events are strongly driven by participant feedback.  Following each event, participants have the opportunity to provide feedback by completing a participant questionnaire.  Feedback is solicited on a variety of topics, such as judges and judging, timing and location, awards and competition, etc...

Participants consistently respond that their primary motivation is to take advantage of "an opportunity to show/discuss my research and practive my presentation skills".

In short, every effort is made to make SRD as meaningful and rewarding to the participants as possible.

We look forward to your participation in SRD 2007, and, as always, welcome your feedback and comments!
