Washington, D.C. Georgetown University Medical Center will host a discussion Monday, October 29, titled "Stem Cell Research: Science, Religion and Ethics in Dialogue."
The main speaker will be Kevin FitzGerald, SJ, PhD, PhD, the David Lauler Chair in Catholic Health Care Ethics at Georgetown University Medical Center. Responding to FitzGerald's remarks will be LeRoy Walters, PhD, Joseph P. Kennedy Professor of Christian Ethics at Georgetown's Kennedy Institute of Ethics, and Roberto Dell'Oro, senior research scholar at Georgetown's Center for Clinical Bioethics. The discussion will be followed by a buffet reception.
FitzGerald is a nationally recognized authority on genetics and medical ethics. His scientific research efforts focus on the investigation of abnormal gene regulation in cancerin particular, the MLL gene, which, when mutated, is a major cause of leukemia in infantsand research on ethical issues in human genetics.
