Lombardi Cancer Center Forming Team to Run Marathon,
Raise Funds for Cancer Research and Treatment

Washington, D.C. — Following the success of its inaugural marathon team, Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University Medical Center is gearing up for the 2002 Marine Corps Marathon, scheduled for October 27. Potential runners and walkers are invited to a series of orientation sessions in February to learn more about Team Lombardi.

Team Lombardi participants train as a group with the nationally acclaimed DCFit marathon training program and raise money for Lombardi. Last year, more than 100 participants—including Senators Don Nickles (R-OK) and Bill Frist (R-TN)—raised $250,000 to support Lombardi's programs, services and research.

The orientation sessions are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, and Tuesday, February 19, and 12:30 p.m. Thursday, February 21. All of the orientation meetings will be held in the Research Building Auditorium on the Georgetown University Medical Center campus, 3970 Reservoir Road NW. To RSVP, for more information about how to become a member of Team Lombardi, or to pledge your support, contact Tom Lane at (202) 687-2936 or teamlombardi@georgetown.edu.
