GUMC’s smoke-free policy is an expansion of the University’s current policy, which does not permit smoking within 25 feet from entries, outdoor air intakes, and windows of all university indoor locations. The medical center’s smoke-free policy increases the “no smoking” zone to the area within 25 feet of on-campus or off-campus GUMC owned or leased indoor locations, grounds or vehicles.

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital

MedStar Georgetown University Hospital (GUH) is a totally smoke-free environment. Therefore, smoking is not permitted anywhere on the hospital grounds, garages, or satellite facilities owned or leased by the hospital. Tobacco products are not sold within the hospital campus. If you anticipate difficulty complying with these requirements, or would like to quit smoking, ask your doctor or nurse about educational materials for smoking cessation techniques or programs and/or referral to community resources.
